A national seminar on interior design, architecture, and art was held on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Jogja Expo Center, Jl. Raya Janti, Yogyakarta. The National Seminar entitled "Urban Identity, Call for Locality" was the result of cooperation between the Interior Design Study Program (PSDI) ISI Yogyakarta and the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Fine Arts ISI Yogyakarta and was carried out entirely by PSDI ISI Yogyakarta students. Attending and giving remarks, Assistant Dean I for Student Affairs, Drs. Andono, MSn, and Chairperson of the Interior Design Study Program, Martino Dwi Nugroho, SSn, MA. Remarks were also given by the Chairman of the Committee, Marendra Mukti, and Chairman of BEM FSR, Bayu Ezra Haristama. Also present at the seminar were several lecturers of PSDI, Drs. Hartoto Indra S., MSn., Ir. Hartiningsih, MT., Yulyta Kodrat P., ST., MT., Setya Budi Astanto, SSn, MSn., and the Head of the Design Department, M. Sholahuddin, SSn, MT.
The urban-themed seminar began with a presentation from Dr. Suastiwi, MDes as the keynote speaker with a paper entitled "Building Locality of Urban Space." The seminar then continued with Session I, which raised the theme "Urban Influence in the Art World and Lifestyle of Indonesian Society" and presented speakers Drs. Sumartono, MA, PhD (academician, lecturer of PSDI ISI Yogyakarta) who presented a paper entitled "Consumptive Lifestyle, Identity Conflict, and Urban Design Creativity" and Kamto Widjaya Lindu Prasekti (artist) with a paper entitled "The Role of Intellectual Property in the Creation of Works." This session was moderated by Hangga Hardika, SSn, MDs, one of the PSDI lecturers. Session II, with the theme "Urban Design in Interior and Architecture," featured Budi Pradono (Architect) and Francis Surjaseputra, HDII (Interior Designer). Ivada Ariyani, ST, MDes, who is also one of the PSDI lecturers acted as moderator for this session. After a lunch break, the seminar continued with a panel discussion featuring the four speakers and hosted by Rahmawan D. Prasetya, SSn., MSi.
The national seminar which was attended by around 300 people, both from ISI Yogyakarta, as well as from other universities such as UGM, UII, UNY, Sanata Dharma University, STSI Bandung, and ISI Surakarta was held thanks to the hard work of the committee and the support of many parties from the media, industry, and alumni. The seminar which ended at 15.00 WIB was also filled with performances from the Legatto music group which is a collaboration between students of the Department of Ethnomusicology and the Department of Music ISI Yogyakarta.
