WORKSHOP & ACADEMIC LECTURE SUSTAINABLE CRAFT THINKING

Cooperation of the Department of Crafts, ISI Yogyakarta - Royal College of Art, London, the UK

The Craft Department of FSRD ISI Yogyakarta began its international activities in 2025 by collaborating with the Royal College of Art (RCA), School of Art and Humanities, London, the United Kingdom. The activities in question are workshops and academic lectures that discuss Sustainable Craft Thinking and Practice Based and Practice Led Research as methodologies for art creation. This is a golden opportunity for students, lecturers, alumni, especially from the realm of craft and fine arts in general considering that the Royal College of Art, London is the number one art college institution in the world from the subject of Arts and Design. Of course this is an honor for the Department of Craft FSRD ISI Yogyakarta to be able to attract prestigious art institutions with a world reputation to work together. The resource person for this event was Martin Bonney, a doctoral candidate from the School of Art and Humanities program, Royal College of Art, London. Martin has over a decade of teaching experience at Lasalle College of Arts, Singapore specializing in Fashion and Textile Art. He is also active in Sustainable in Craft activities and projects especially those related to social, economic and culture in a society. She has been invited to speak about Indigenous Craft projects in various countries such as China, Colombia, various European countries and gave workshops for UNESCO in the US.

The workshop and Academic Lecture event will be held at Gd. Ajiyasa lt.2, FSRD ISI Yogyakarta on Thursday, January 31, 2025 with student participants, especially students of Sustainable Craft courses, postgraduate students, alumni and of course lecturers within the scope of the Craft Department FSRD ISI Yogyakarta.
