ISI Yogyakarta's Interior Design Study Program Hosts the TKMDII XVI National Festival

Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta once again hosted the grand event of the XVIth National Festival of Indonesian Interior Design Student Temu Karya (TKMDII). This big event is held every 2 years and gathers 25 universities throughout Indonesia, especially universities that have Interior Design Study Programs. TKMDII XVI was held from 11 - 14 October 2023 with a number of series of events ranging from national seminars, national congresses, exhibitions of interior design works, creative workshops, excursions, forums for the Association of Interior Design Study Programs (APSDI), to the Interior Design Study Program. product knowledge from TACO and SUN POWER CERAMICS.

The TKMDII XVI activity was opened by the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn. "This event of creativity of interior design students throughout Indonesia has extraordinary positive energy. Awakening the spirit of the nation's children in working, especially in the field of design. It is an honor and pride for us to be able to host and become a meeting point for the work of interior design students throughout Indonesia.", he said.

Leaders in the ISI Yogyakarta environment also attended to support, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design ISI Yogyakarta M. Sholahuddin, S.Sn., M.T., Head of the Design Department Martino Dwi Nugroho, M.A., Head of the Interior Design Study Program Setya Budi Astanto, S.Sn., M.Sn., Coord. Supervisor of TKMDII National Interior Design Festival Mahdi Nurcahyo, S.Sn., M.A., regional officials of Bantul Tourism Office, leaders and accompanying lecturers from 25 universities throughout Indonesia. 

At the national seminar at TKMDII XVI with the topic of Small Home: Big Ideas: Innovative Interior Design Solutions for Limited Living Space proposed to convey to the public that choosing or owning a small house or compact house It's not about the inability to afford or own a large home. But it is about affordability in ownership, we can interpret it as an independent and essential lifestyle. People who live in small houses or compact actually experience an improved quality of life. Especially if it's designed right. Because what's inside the home is really something important, essential and a priority.
In the New Work of Delegation (KBD), each Higher Education delegation processed space and show their residential space design works to visitors who come to the exhibition area. In the Joint New Work and Studio New Work on display, it can be seen that each university has a specialty that becomes the strength of its identity. "There are many more interior design works displayed by each university delegation so we hope that this event will open people's minds about the increasingly important role of the interior designer profession in providing creative solutions to the living problems we face today and in the future," concluded Mahdi Nurcahyo as the supervisor of TKMDII XVI.
