Glorious Achievements of Lecturers, Students and Alumni of the Craft Department of FSR ISI Yogyakarta in the Batik Design Competition "Jagaditha Batik Jogja Istimewa Mendunia" 2022

The Craft Department, FSR ISI Yogyakarta is increasingly establishing itself as a department that has extraordinary human resources related to the preservation and development of Batik Nusantara, especially Jogjakarta. This is evidenced by the achievements of lecturers, students and alumni who simultaneously won awards as winners of the Jogja Special Batik Design Competition in the General Category and Students / Students at the National Level, on October 19-23, 2022 at the Jogja Expo Center, Yogyakarta.

The organization of the Batik competition as one of the series of Batik Festival 2022 with the theme Jagaditha, Batik Jogja Istimewa Mendunia aims to preserve and develop batik as a fair cultural heritage. In addition, to create new batik motifs that are characterized by Jogja. The competition was attended by 200 participants consisting of 170 general participants and 30 millennial participants who were selected from 1st place to 3rd place. After that, 12 nominees and 6 winners were selected.

At the 2022 Batik Festival with the theme Jagaditha Batik Jogja Istimewa Mendunia, the General Category in the first place was won by Craft alumnus, Eny Windarti, 3rd place was won by Craft Department lecturer, Aruman, M.A and 5th place also went to a young Craft lecturer, Tri Wulandari, M.A. For the Student Category, the first place was won by a Craft student with a main interest in textiles, Laili Khoirunisa, the 4th place was won by Ririn Dwi Tri Rahayu, an alumnus who had just graduated in 2022 and the 5th place was won by Bunga Amelia. This is certainly an achievement that outstanding, considering that from 2 categories, each consisting of 6 winners, the lecturers, students and alumni of the Craft Department bought 6 awards at once. Hopefully this success can continue in the future and have a positive impact on the development of the world of Indonesian Batik (Jogjakarta). In addition, it increases the real role of higher education in producing young people as creative successors of the nation's culture full of achievements.
