FSRD ISI Yogyakarta Students Make International Achievements at ASEAN Workshop 2025 - Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University, Thailand

Thailand, September 16, 2025 - Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta participated in an international collaboration, namely "ASEAN Workshop 2025: Spiritual Still Alive at Wang Tha Phra". This activity was organized by Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University, Thailand which is a realization of the synergy between art, culture, and technology in celebrating the spiritual richness of Southeast Asia.

The Faculty of Fine Arts and Design was also part of the collaboration in this workshop. The workshop participants consisted of students and lecturers from various universities including Silpakorn University, (Thailand), Communication University of China, Maranatha Christian University (Indonesia), and Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta (Indonesia). This collaboration has been going on for more than two months from research to the design process. The process began in July 2025, with mentors providing material on spiritual values in design in each country. In August 2025, the participants began designing their concepts, which were then realized into works. video mapping and design lighting.

The final result of this collaboration was exhibited on September 15, 2025, coinciding with the celebration of Silpa Bhirasri Day, a day honoring the founder of Silpakorn University. The exhibition was a proud symbol of the Faculty of Decorative Arts' 70th anniversary and Wang Tha Phra's position as a center for art, design and tourism on Rattanakosin Island. Each group's presentation and closing ceremony took place on September 16, 2025.

On this occasion, two students from FSRD ISI Yogyakarta who participated were Khansa Azizah from the Visual Communication Design Study Program and Mutia Rizka Rayhani from the Interior Design Study Program. Khansa Azizah joined the video mapping team and her team won two awards: Best of Spiritual Still Alive at Wang Tha Phra and Best of Visual Innovation. In addition, Mutia Rizka Rayhani who is a member of the design team lighting won the award Best of Cultural Expression.

The success of Khansa and Mutia Rizka cannot be separated from the guidance of mentors from various countries, one of whom is a lecturer at FSRD ISI Yogyakarta, Mutia Nurdina, S.T., M.Sc. The contribution of this mentor is to ensure that every aspect of design and technology is integrated harmoniously, creating works that are not only innovative, but also relevant to today's cultural context. This achievement proves that the creativity of ISI Yogyakarta students with the support of competent lecturers is able to compete internationally. Their work not only amazes, but also inspires through the integration of culture, technology and spirituality.

The event was supported by the main sponsors, Tyvek and SCG, who were instrumental in realizing the grand vision of the event. Through a variety of support, workshop This is expected to be a medium of collaborative cooperation for students and lecturers, strengthen cross-country partnerships by respecting cultural diversity, and develop students' potential to become global citizens who understand their cultural heritage while remaining relevant to global changes. The success of Khansa and Mutia not only brought the good name of FSRD ISI Yogyakarta, but also inspired other students to continue working and collaborating at the international level.
