SMKN 12 Surabaya Visits the Fine Arts Department of FSRD ISI Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta, January 27, 2026 The Fine Arts Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (FSRD) at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta received an educational visit from teachers and students of SMKN 12 Surabaya on Tuesday (1/27). The group, consisting of accompanying teachers and 11th-grade Painting major students, was welcomed directly by the Head of the Fine Arts Department and the Coordinator of the Art Conservation Study Program. This visit aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the educational programs offered by the Fine Arts Department, which include the Fine Arts Study Program and the Art Conservation Study Program. The students had the opportunity to explore various academic facilities and interact directly with the academic community.

The series of activities began with a visit to the Painting Art lecturer's studio, where students observed the lecturer's painting works firsthand. The opportunity for interactive discussion with the Painting Art lecturers provided deep insights into the art of painting. The visit continued to the Art Conservation Study Program, specifically the Painting Conservation Laboratory. Students received explanations regarding the importance of art conservation, as well as the scientific techniques applied in preserving visual artworks.

Enthusiasm peaked as the group visited the Graphic Art Studio. The students watched live demonstrations of the artwork creation process. drypoint guided by students and lecturers of Intaglio Printmaking Art. This experience of witnessing the creative process firsthand provided its own inspiration for the young aspiring artists. The journey concluded with a visit to the Painting and Sculpture Studio, where students could observe student works and the learning facilities that support artistic exploration.

The Head of the Fine Arts Department expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm of the students at SMKN 12 Surabaya. “We hope that dissemination activities like this can continue to be established and attract more alumni from SMKN 12 Surabaya to pursue undergraduate studies at ISI Yogyakarta, especially in the Fine Arts Department,” he said. Educational visits like this are part of ISI Yogyakarta's efforts to foster cooperation with secondary educational institutions, as well as introduce its excellent study programs to potential prospective students.
