REPOST MAGELANG, kedu.suaramerdeka.com - The Visual Communication Design (DKV) team from the National Development University (UPN) of East Java together with the DKV Study Program of FSR ISI Yogyakarta continued their community service by providing totebag screen printing assistance.
The training took place in Bumiharjo Tourism Village, Borobudur, Magelang. The campus also collaborated with NAwung Studio with a mentor who is also an art and nature school activist, Galuhlarasati.
The lecturers and students not only teach the creative process of screen printing, but also train their entrepreneurial spirit and apply their knowledge to provide tangible benefits to the local community.
''We assisted the women of the tourism village to make totebags with high selling value,'' said Pungky Febi Arifianto SSn MSn accompanied by Widyasari ST MT.
They provided technical and creative direction throughout the training process, making sure each participant understood each step well.
According to Pungky, mentoring is not only about technical training, but also empowering the community through education and the application of visual communication design knowledge.
''We hope that what we teach can help the people of Bumiharjo Tourism Village develop local products and improve welfare,'' he said.
Entrepreneurial Spirit
Widyasari added that they wanted to instill a strong entrepreneurial spirit and provide an in-depth understanding of the creative process of screen printing.
''We hope that participants can utilize this knowledge to improve the quality and attractiveness of their tourism village products,'' he said.
During the activity, a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere could be seen from the participants, most of whom were mothers of tourism village activists.
Participants were happy to attend the training. In addition to adding skills, they are also more confident to develop village products.
The teams from both campuses stated that the collaboration between academics and the community can continue and make a positive contribution to the development of tourism villages in Indonesia.
Service programs like this are proof that science and technology can be an effective tool to empower communities and improve socio-economic welfare.
