International Art Exhibition & Academic Collaboration ISI YOGYAKARTA - SILPAKORN UNIVERSITY THAILAND "LOCAL 4GLOBAL: Art in the 4.0 era"

Silpakorn University, Bangkok, Thailand
October 27 - 31, 2019

This exhibition highlights the interconnection of various treasures, including cooperation between educational institutions, creative processes as a means of self-recognition, the image of the East, and cross-sector geo-art, especially in Southeast Asia. Indonesia, more specifically Java (where Yogya is the entry) is historically close to the history of Thai tradition. In historical periodization, the art life of the Neolithic era in Southeast Asia has been alive since 200 BC. The emergence of Hindu influence as a major culture simultaneously occurred in the 200s AD, especially in Java, Cambodia, and Siam.

This cooperation needs to be tightened with 4 keywords: 1) Gestalt theory; 2) Generative art; 3) Golden section; 4) Global Village. Each of these keywords has a significant meaning in this exhibition. The title of the exhibition "4G" can also be metaphorized with a contextual issue, that the technology that is currently developing in our virtual communication culture still uses a lot of 4G-based technology.

The development of technology is also expected to mediate the cooperation that has been carried out by two important universities in Southeast Asia: ISI Yogyakarta and Silpakorn University Bangkok. Through this exhibition, both of them may become the backbone of creative work in the future to color the art world. The cooperation between Yogyakarta and Bangkok means not only cultural exchange, but also setting an example for others to work together. The goal is to form a strong personality, quality artworks, and a distinctive image of art education in the Southeast Asian region.

This collaboration also serves to re-explore our meaning as Easterners who are aware of global developments. The East is not only a sign of the cardinal directions, but also a meaning of aesthetics that leads to the axis of man, nature and God. Works that also rely on virtue, truth and greatness mediated by technology 4.0. This kind of concept really needs to be socialized in every academic creative product. So that art remains beneficial to humanity throughout the world. +++
