The Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (FSRD) of Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Indonesian Academy of Fine Arts (HARLAH ASRI) in 2025 with the theme "Working Excellently, Transformatively and Collaboratively, the Foundation of FSRD Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta Creative, Innovative and Internationally Reputable". The ASRI HARLAH commemoration event will be held with a pilgrimage to the graves of ASRI founders and artists, the ASRI HARLAH celebration ceremony, and ends with anjangsana to retired lecturers and education staff of FSRD ISI Yogyakarta.
On January 15, 1950, ASRI - the forerunner of FSRD ISI Yogyakarta - was inaugurated by the Minister of Teaching Education and Culture (PP and K) S. Mangunsarkoro, with RJ. Katamsi as the main director. At that time, ASRI was the first art higher education institution established and became a model for higher education in the arts in Indonesia. ASRI later transformed into the Indonesian College of Fine Arts (STSRI) and then currently the FSRD ISI Yogyakarta. In 2025, FSRD ISI Yogyakarta is led by Muhamad Sholahuddin, S.Sn., M.T. The implementation of ASRI's 75th Harlah or three quarters of a century in 2025 is not only a form of celebration and gratitude. This commemoration is also a reminder of the vision, mission, goals and spirit that ASRI has had since it was first established. It is hoped that what was envisioned by the founders of ASRI and the community for the establishment of art universities can continue to be passed on through continuous transformation and collaboration. Thus, FSRD ISI Yogyakarta will continue to inherit the spirit to produce reliable artists who will transform the Indonesian art world.
