The annual art exhibition Pekan Rupa 3, organized by the BEM of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (FSRD) ISI Yogyakarta, once again attracted attention. The event lasted for a week, from April 14 to 20, 2025, at the RJ Katamsi Gallery with the theme "Intimeless". In this exhibition, two students of the Media Design Study Program managed to attract attention through their works that were full of meaning and strong visuals.
"Eternal Harmony" - An Exploration of Peace in Human History by Aqbil
Aqbil, one of the students of the Media Design Study Program, exhibited his work entitled "Eternal Harmony". This work depicts a deep reflection on humanity's relationship with peace throughout history. According to Aqbil, although humans are often plagued by conflict and hostility, the desire for peace always exists within each individual.
"Through this work, I want to convey that peace is an eternal element that humans continue to seek," Aqbil said. He also explains that the title "Selaras Abadi" reflects the hope for a harmonious life, where humans can live in harmony with nature and each other, a condition he calls "urip selaras abadi" (living in perpetual harmony). The work is not only emotionally moving, but also invites the audience to reflect on the values of peace in everyday life.
"Tuumbuuh Maatii!!!" - Journey of Life and Immortality by Imad
Meanwhile, Imad, another Media Design Study Program student, displayed a work entitled "Tuumbuuh Maatii!!!". This work is a personal narrative about Imad's life journey as a human being who continues to grow, even though he does not know when he will die.
"This work was born from philosophical questions that often arise in my mind: Will I ever get to exhibit my own work? Or is it my work that will survive even after I am gone?" says Imad.
Through his work, Imad depicts the cycle of life and death as an integral part of human existence. He also explores the relationship between himself and his works, with the hope that they can become a legacy that lives on and gives meaning to others in the future. The work invites viewers to reflect on the meaning of life, death, and the impact that each individual can leave behind.
The success of Aqbil and Imad in passing the open call selection and displaying their work in Pekan Rupa 3 proves the great potential possessed by the students of Media Design Study Program FSRD ISI Yogyakarta. These two works not only represent their creativity, but also reflect the spirit of exploration that characterizes the study program.
Let's wait for other inspiring works from Media Design Study Program students in the future!
