Association of Indonesian Art Management Study Programs (ATASI) Officially Established

Yogyakarta, 25 November 2025 - Representatives of the Art Governance Study Program (Prodi) from three universities in Indonesia, namely Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta, ISI Surakarta, and ISI Bali, officially formed the Association of Indonesian Art Governance Study Programs (ATASI), a national forum for the development of science, profession, and art governance ecosystems. The formation of this association was formulated through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) held at Sasana Ajiyasa Faculty of Arts and Design (FSRD) ISI Yogyakarta involving academics from the three institutes, as well as management practitioners from the Indonesian Management Association (AMI).
To note, the Art Management Study Program in Indonesia is a relatively young study program. Until 2025, there were only three institutes that had an Art Management Study Program at the diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels, respectively: D4 Art Management Study Program ISI Surakarta, S1 Art Management Study Program ISI Yogyakarta, S2 Art Management Study Program ISI Yogyakarta, and S2 Art Management Study Program ISI Bali.
ATASI is presented as a response to the urgent need for a stronger collaborative network in curriculum development, research, arts policy advocacy, as well as strengthening arts governance practices involving education, communities, arts institutions, and the cultural sector at large. The scope of the association's work is agreed not to be limited to the field of education, but also includes professional networking, policy advocacy, and strengthening the national arts-culture ecosystem.
The FGD ended by electing a chairperson, vice chairperson, and secretary general (secretary general) who will also act as formatur. The elected chairperson is Dr. Arinta Agustina, S.Sn., M.A. from ISI Yogyakarta, and two representatives are Dr. I Wayan Agus Eka Cahyadi, M.Sn. from ISI Bali and Dr. Fawarti Gendra Nata Utami, M.Sn. from ISI Surakarta. While the elected secretary general is Dr. Trisna Pradita, S.Sos., M.M. from ISI Yogyakarta.
The establishment of ATASI is an important momentum for the development of arts governance studies and practices in Indonesia. The association is expected to strengthen cross-institutional collaboration, facilitate knowledge exchange, and become an advocacy platform for more progressive and inclusive arts and cultural policies.
Further information regarding ATASI's activities and the next stage in the formation of the organization will be announced through the association's official channel which is currently being set up.
