Helena Fitri Dewi Represents ISI Yogyakarta in PILMAPRES LLDikti Region V 2025

Yogyakarta - Helena Fitri Dewi, an outstanding student from the Media Design Study Program, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (FSRD), Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta, made a proud achievement in the Selection of Outstanding Students (PILMAPRES) for Undergraduate and Diploma Programs in 2025. The event organized by the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDikti) Region V took place on July 2-3, 2025 at the LLDikti Region V Office, Jl. Tentara Pelajar No. 13 Jetis, Yogyakarta.

Helena performed brilliantly by presenting two excellent materials: an innovative product entitled "Uplifting the ESISTENCE of LOCAL PRODUCTS IN THE CREATIVE ECONOMIC MARKET: PACKAGING INNOVATION ON BURAYOT REBORN", as well as an English presentation on the global issue of "How Design Changes the Economy". With a combination of creative ideas and innovative solutions, Helena managed to achieve 5th place at the regional level, an extraordinary achievement that brought the name ISI Yogyakarta increasingly taken into account in the national higher education scene.

Innovative Product: Resurrecting Local Burayot
Through her innovative product, Helena highlights the potential of local culinary, namely Burayot, a traditional snack from West Java that has high cultural value but receives less attention in the modern market. With a strategic design approach, Helena created packaging innovations that are not only aesthetically appealing, but also functional and environmentally friendly. The main objective of this project is to increase the competitiveness of local products in the creative economy market, so that it can have a positive impact on the community's economy.

Burayot Reborn's packaging innovation was designed with sustainability in mind, such as the use of recycled materials and efficient minimalist design. Helena also ensures that the packaging is able to highlight local cultural narratives, so that consumers not only buy products, but also preserve cultural heritage through every purchase.

English Presentation: How Design Changes the Economy
In her English presentation, Helena discussed the role of design as an agent of economic change. She highlighted how design can be an important tool to drive the economy, especially in this era of creative economy. Through real-life examples, including Burayot Reborn's packaging innovation, Helena explained how design can create added value for local products, increase competitiveness in the global market, and create new jobs.

The presentation also aligned with the sustainable development goals (SDGs), specifically point 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. Helena emphasized that design is not just a visual art, but also a strategic tool to drive inclusive economic growth that impacts the wider community.

Struggle and Achievement in PILMAPRES 2025
PILMAPRES is one of the most prestigious competitions among university students in Indonesia. In this event, participants are assessed based on their academic ability, creativity, leadership, and contribution to society. Helena successfully competed with hundreds of participants from various universities in Region V, which covers Central Java, Yogyakarta, and Central Kalimantan.

Helena's 5th position not only proves her individual abilities, but also shows ISI Yogyakarta's commitment in supporting the development of highly competitive students. This achievement is also a motivation for other students to continue to innovate and contribute to society through science and art. This is also proof that FSRD ISI Yogyakarta students are able to compete at the national level with creative ideas that are relevant and have a real impact on society. Hopefully this achievement can inspire other students to continue working.

Helena herself expressed her gratitude for the support given by ISI Yogyakarta and her supervisory team. "This is the result of hard work together. I hope that the innovations I bring can provide real benefits to society and inspire the younger generation to continue to innovate for the progress of the nation," said Helena.
