Fine Art Exhibition for the Retirement of Pure Art Lecturers

On October 20, 2019 at Limanjawi Art House Borobudur Magelang Gallery, an art exhibition was held in order to release the retirement of 4 (four) lecturers of the Department of Fine Arts FSR ISI Yogyakarta. This exhibition will run from October 20 - November 10, 2019.

The theme of this exhibition is " A-tribute ", to release four retired lecturers from the Department of Fine Arts FSR ISI Yogyakarta, namely Drs Syafruddin M. Hum, Drs Titoes Libert, M.Sn, Dr. Edi Sunaryo M.S., and Drs AB Dwiantoro M.S. This performance was opened by the owner of OHD Museum, Dr. Oei Hong Djien. and was attended by the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, all retired fine arts lecturers, OHD, Deputy Regent, Magelang Muspida, FSR Students, FSR Alumni, and Art Lovers.

In this exhibition the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta (Prof. Dr. M. Agus Burhan, M.Hum.) also gave a speech. He said on behalf of the institution to congratulate this exhibition, as well as expressing his highest appreciation to his colleagues who have devoted themselves and entered retirement.

He said that this exhibition is a very productive activity related to the academic ritual of releasing retired lecturers, meaning that it reveals an important momentum of how the continuity of generations with various kinds of competence will be seen from this academic ritual.

He said that this exhibition is a momentum to show the continuity of values, work ethic, tradition.

"Those who retire will continue to work, and the young will continue the academic traditions that have been built," he said.

He said the tradition of releasing lecturers by organizing exhibitions had been carried out by ISI Yogyakarta, including on the ISI Yogyakarta campus, Bentara Budaya, and in Bali.

"This time we chose Borobudur because it is a place with high cultural value. So the world certainly knows Borobudur as a cultural site," he said.

Retired representative AB Dwiantoro said that although he and three other friends had retired from the office, they could not retire from their art.

"So with this retirement, of course we will move forward as artists, we must continue to work and the important thing is that I represent my friends to say a big thank you to the Faculty of Fine Arts ISI Yogyakarta, in this case, who celebrated our retirement by telling us to keep working," he said.

Limanjawi Art House owner Umar Chusaeni said Borobudut Temple is an extraordinary monument, a building made by the ancestors of artists in their day.

"I hope one day artists born from ISI Yogyakarta can also present extraordinary works for Borobudur," he said.
