Yogyakarta, April 23, 2026 — The Visual Communication Design Study Program, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta, received an academic visit from students and lecturers of Visual Communication Design, Universitas Trisakti, in an Academic Study and Workshop which took place on Thursday (04/23) from 08:00–11:00 WIB at the Ajiyasa Building, 2nd Floor.
This activity is part of the Trisakti University Field Work Lecture series in Yogyakarta, which was attended by 106 students and 7 lecturers. The event was organized by the ISI Yogyakarta Visual Communication Design Student Association (STUDIS) as a space for dialogue among students to share experiences related to academic activities, creative processes, and practical work in the field of visual communication design.
The event began with an overview of FSRD ISI Yogyakarta's profile by the Dean of FSRD, Muhamad Sholahuddin, S.Sn., M.T., who introduced the faculty's vision, programs, and learning dynamics. Remarks were then delivered by the Head of the DKV Study Program at Trisakti University, Bambang Tri Wardoyo, S.Sn., M.Ds., who emphasized the importance of knowledge and experience exchange among students.
The culmination of the event was filled with workshop collage titled “Words of Courage”. Workshop This invites students to express personal ideas through simple media such as old newspapers and magazines. Participants explore their anxieties and hidden ideas, then embody them in visual and text forms freely assembled using traditional collage techniques.
The collage artwork is then applied to media in the form of a round acrylic insert pin with a diameter of 4.5 cm and cover tapes that are processed symbolically or explicitly. These works become personal artifacts that can be taken home as a form of documentation of the creative experience. Through this approach, students are invited to experience a more intuitive and enjoyable design process, while also honing their ability to assemble ideas through expressive forms that are nonetheless capable of conveying a message.
As a token of appreciation and a keepsake, STUDIS presents a souvenir themed “Sewon Wind”, which is packaged in a traditional cracker box and decorated with stencil images of the mascots of both institutions. This souvenir becomes a symbol of the meeting and exchange of experiences between the two campuses. The souvenir was handed over by the Head of STUDIS/HIMA DKV ISI Yogyakarta, Barunata, to the Head of BEM FSRD Trisakti, I Made Deva Widhi Ardhanai.
This activity is expected to be the first step in opening opportunities for dialogue and future cooperation, as well as expanding the professional network of students in the field of visual communication design.
