Visual Communication Design Study Program, Faculty of Fine Arts ISI Yogyakarta, for the umpteenth time held a typography exhibition with the theme "Urip-uriping aksara", the idea of the theme Urip-uriping aksara, departs from the phenomenon of script (letters & typography) as a visual element that 'lives' in human life. The script is not only seen as a unit of letters and their arrangement to form a meaning. It is more than that. It has a 'life', is able to 'channel its life' culturally, so that - let's say - it can be perceived as a strong, classic, masculine, or feminine letter. Its diversity positions the script as a 'storefront'. font'As a medium of expression in visual communication.

Here, the script is 'nguripi'. It provides humans with a choice of characters and impressions. It helps people choose and arrange them for various needs. It can be used for information needs according to the impression it creates. And not only that, he is also able to become a marker of the spirit of the times (zeitgeist), cultural identity, as well as a representation of personal experience.

The 'life' of the script does not end there. Because it coexists with spoken language, it can articulate various sounds into an array of characters: a bang, a shout, footsteps. The script 'describes' the expression, the intonation, the length of the voice, up to the 'heaviness' or 'weakness' of the voice. Script - through the creativity of its depiction - can become a visual element that can 'color' other elements when it is arranged, composed or combined. It can create dramatization and accentuation of messages and aesthetics in an image 'space' to 'flow' the reading process. The script-in this case-becomes the element that 'nguripke'. In a sense, it exists in a certain context, not from an empty space. It is able to 'fill', give 'meaning', or give expression to the elements around it.

The script-from the point of view of creation-also has an infinite nature (infinite). The visuality of script can be created using various objects, materials, mediums, styles, techniques, and technologies. It is also 'friendly' to synergize with various contexts and symbolic concepts. It can reproduce sounds, bangs, shouts, and metaphorize various objects into expressive script designs. And vice versa, it can also be an inspiration for producing objects, expressing feelings, visual artworks, ambient objectThere are many different mediums that can be used, from script-based games to script-based games. The script, in this case, can inspire and be present to the public. Without a pragmatic system of rules, it has the ability to be derivatized into an object of creation. It is ready to be agreed upon by anyone to be deconstructed. Script, in the end, 'ngurupke' human life.
