15 GRADUATES OF ISI JOGJA MASTER STUDY TO NANJING CHINA

This September, the Department of Crafts FSR ISI Yogyakarta dispatched 15 of its undergraduate scholars to continue their master's studies at Nanjing University of Art (NUA) China. This departure is a record in itself for the Craft Department, as the department with the most senders of students who get scholarships from the Chinna Scholarship Council. CSC is a program provided by the Chinese Government through NUA for students from Southeast Asian countries and is a pioneer of cooperation between ISI and NUA.

The 15 students come from the main interests of Textile Craft, Metal Craft, Wood Craft, Ceramic Craft and Leather Craft. They will receive a special one-year program to learn Chinese, before continuing their master's studies. They are expected to be able to gain knowledge of art and culture in China and can be developed in their homeland in the future.

The Head of the Craft Department at ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Yulriawan Dafri, M.Hum. revealed that this pilot collaboration between NUA and ISI Yogyakarta will be followed up with an MOU next year. In fact, in addition to student exchanges, plans were also initiated to send ISI Yogyakarta lecturers to take doctoral studies at NUA. Yulriawan emphasized that the hope is that these students can complete their studies in China and return as national assets and contribute their knowledge to the nation and state of Indonesia.
