The Bachelor's Program in Art Management, FSR ISI Yogyakarta, and the Bachelor's Program in History, FIB UGM, present “YOU WEAR WHAT YOU LISTEN: Top 10 Hot Charts and the Fashion Trends of 2 Decades (2000-2019): An Archive Exhibition.”

Looking back at life two decades ago, it's likely that many events have shaped the lives of today's Gen Z/Millennials. Every song, its melody, and even the fashion it influenced, is an archive that records the era, while also completing our nostalgia.

Popular culture becomes the most clearly readable soul of the times, as social phenomena greatly influence public taste. Societal anxieties and experiences are most easily injected into song trends because they are close to the expressive lives of the community.

In this exhibition, the top 10 charts from the early 2000s to the late 2010s, according to Billboard Magazine, are presented. The transition of culture and public taste over two decades is expected to be revisited in this exhibition, and it can spark memories of personal and public phenomena that occurred during that period.
