About Us

The Art Conservation Study Program is an undergraduate program (S-1) which is carried out in 8 semesters under the auspices of the Faculty of Fine Arts, since 2022 confirmed by the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Number 663/E/0/2022 concerning Permission to Open an Undergraduate Art Conservation Study Program at Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta in Yogyakarta.

ISI Yogyakarta's Conservation Study Program is the first art conservation study program in Indonesia for undergraduate level. This study program is a multidisciplinary field of science (art, science, and technology). 

The importance of the establishment of the Conservation Study Program is driven by the need for human resources who are experts in conducting art conservation in Indonesia, especially fine art objects of cultural heritage from tropical climates.

Graduate Prospects

 

Graduates of the Bachelor of Art Conservation Study Program are expected to have a profile as:

  1. PractitionerA graduate of Art Conservation is expected to be able to: (1) identify findings of art conservation problems in the field, (2) have sensitivity in solving problems appropriately based on accurate information and data, and (3) build networks with various parties to collaborate across fields in implementing planned programs.
  2. ResearcherTherefore, an Art Conservation scholar is expected to have the ability to: (1) design research, (2) be careful in conducting analysis, and (3) produce scientific findings and information that are useful for addressing and solving various problems of art conservation, art collection management, maintenance of art and cultural objects that have an awareness of caring for the values and cultural heritage of the tropical region with integrity and ethics in accordance with their scientific fields.
  3. Art Conservation AcademicsThe Bachelor of Art Conservation has expertise in the scientific field of art conservation, the ability to practice and research in the field of art conservation, and the ability to carry out duties and responsibilities as an academic including: (1) prepare teaching materials that have been prepared systematically, planned, and aimed, (2) carry out their duties to interact directly with their students in a learning process and (3) assess and evaluate learning outcomes that lead to the learning process and have awareness in the important values of care and preservation of art objects and cultural heritage of the tropics with integrity and ethics according to their scientific field.
