FSRD ISI YOGYAKARTA, July 25 - August 01, 2025 - FSRD ISI YOGYAKARTA held an activity of Oil Painting Restoration Workshop which is provided free of charge by Conservation CenterCheng Shiu University, Taiwan.
This international activity was held in collaboration with the Vice Dean I of the previous period, Dr. Yulriawan Dafri, M.Hum., who in 2024 sent 4 students from the Department of Craft and Art Management to take part in training in art conservation as well as providing art conservation training. workshop batik at Cheng Shiu University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan for one month.
The Conservation Center owned by Cheng Shiu University is a conservation institution for artworks including paintings, woodwork, metalwork and ceramics. It has an international reputation with clients from all over the world, from auction houses, countries and private individuals.
Prior to the conservation, Vice President of Cheng Shiu University, Dr. Shuenn-Ren Cheng and Director of Cheng Shiu University were present. Conservation CenterDr. I-Cheng Li and several professors and conservators held an audience with the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, the Dean of FSRD and the rector's staff who welcomed the international scale activities. This workshop is also one of the implementations of the cooperation agreement that has been signed by ISI Yogyakarta - Cheng Shiu University Taiwan since 2024.
Participants workshop consisting of 2 lecturers from the Craft Study Program, 6 lecturers from the Art Conservation Study Program, 2 lecturers from the Fine Arts Study Program, and 4 staff from Affandi Museum who are partners in the workshop. One of Affandi's legendary self-portrait works is the object of restoration. One of the workshop participants, Anna Galuh Indreswari, M.A. from the Craft Study Program felt very grateful to be able to take part in the workshop given by professional conservators of international reputation because she gained valuable knowledge and experience that had never been obtained before. After attending the training for one week, each participant received a certificate signed by the Dean of FSRD and the Dean of the Craft Study Program. Conservator and Co-ConservatorLu Chien-Hua, and Yang Yi-Lin who greatly appreciated the enthusiasm and discipline of the participants in undergoing the training.
Workshop was closed by the Dean of FSRD, Muhamad Sholahuddin, M.T., and the Vice Dean for Division I, Dr. Arya Sucitra, M.A., and the Program Coordinator, Dr. Yulriawan Dafri, M.Hum., who hoped that the activity would be successful. workshop not only stop here, but can also be continued by sending lecturers to Conservation Center Cheng Shiu University Taiwan to improve personal capacity.
