The ISI Yogyakarta Interior Design Student Team won 3rd place in the final of the International Interior Design event in Chicago America organized by the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) sponsored by OFS and Carolina. Position First was achieved by the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology Team, the winner of the Second achieved by the Team from California State University, and Champion Third was achieved by the Interior Design Team of the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta.
"First of all we express our gratitude and pride for being the only Indonesian team to win the world's prestigious event against millions of student teams from world-class universities. A competition that requires a long breath because it goes through a very tight selection in a period of months and this is the highest achievement in 2024, especially for the Interior Design Study Program at ISI Yogyakarta, "said the supervisor of the International Student Competition, Mahdi Nurcahyo. ISI Yogyakarta Interior Design students consisting of Angelica Rassie Fiandy, Thio Rahman Saleh, Rahmanita Fairuz Shafiya, Farah Ainan Tajriyani, and Indana Zulfiya, raised the design concept of "Akasa Pediactric Clinic". The design team, which was mentored by Mr. Mahdi Nurcahyo, S.Sn., M.A., took the theme of "Akasa Pediactric Clinic" as their theme. Celestial Sanctuary. A healthcare space design inspired by children's feelings and imagination of cosmic spaceship travel. The name illustrates the design team's belief that health is strongly influenced by the environment in which humans live their daily activities.
This annual international competition, which draws students from around the world, allows interior design students to showcase their creativity while also gathering insights and experiences dealing with the needs of a globalized society and the world's leading industrial design standards. This year's design competition asked participants to design Pediatric Primary Care Clinic that are innovative and focused on the behavioral health of space users. "We believe opportunities like the Student Design Competition are one of the primary methods of expanding students' ability to grow professionally and demonstrate their new skills to the industry," said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO, Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. She noted that students are the next generation who will be actively collaborating with IIDA partners such as OFS and Carolina to help them build the future of the world through the practice of design and the competition brief challenges design students to keep thinking ahead.
