18desember-2013-15januari2014-pameran-seni-rupa-alumni-isi-yogyakarta-figurasi1UPT Galeri ISI Yogyakarta will hold a Fine Art Exhibition of ISI Yogyakarta Alumni entitled "Figurasi" on Wednesday (18/12/2013) until January 15, 2014 at the Fine Art Gallery of ISI Yogyakarta. "Figurasi" will present figurative paintings and sculptures by 13 artists who graduated from ASRI Yogyakarta, which is now ISI Yogyakarta.

The 13 artists are Abdi Setiawan, Budi Kustarto, Dunadi, Haris Purnama, Ichwan Noor, Ivan Sagita, Joni Basri, Setyo Priyo Nugroho, Sigit Santosa, Teguh Supriono, Wahyu Santosa, Win Dwi Laksono and Yuswantoro Adi.
The curator of the "Figuration" exhibition, Anusapati, explains that this exhibition specifically presents artists who are alumni of STSRI-ASRI and ISI Yogyakarta who have strong figurative painting skills.

"They show the power of creative use of figurative imagery as the main idiom in their works based on realistic-photographic figure representations," said Anusapati at the press conference for the "Figurative" exhibition, Monday (16/12).
"Of course, the 13 artists involved in this exhibition do not represent all the fine arts alumni of ISI Jogja but hopefully, the participants who are invited to the exhibition can be representative enough to represent through their works," added Anusapati.

Furthermore, Anusapati explained that Jogja art represented by STSRI-ASRI and now ISI Yogyakarta has a strength in figurative-realistic style in their paintings. The strength of this figurative style began in the early days of Indonesian modern art.
The birth of PERSAGI, Sanggar Peluksi Rakjat, Pelukis Indonesia Muda with its figures such as Affandi, Soedjojono, Hendra Gunawan, etc. became a milestone in the development of modern Indonesian art that gave birth to the Indonesian Academy of Fine Arts (ASRI) in Yogyakarta.
