FSR ISI Yogyakarta Lecturer Receives Award

Drs. Asnar Zacky, M.Sn., one of the Lecturers of the Design Department of Visual Communication Design Study Program FSR ISI Yogyakarta received the award "Lifetime Achievement Award" as a cross manual drawing at the Nandung Srawung #7 Exhibition which was held on October 8-25, 2020 at Taman Budaya Yogyakarta. Participants in the Nandung Srawung #7 Exhibition consisted of selected artists and several lecturers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Afghanistan and France.

The 7th Nandur Srawung this time chose Drs. Asnar Zacky, M.Sn., as the winner “Lifetime Achievement Award“ The 7th Nandur Srawung in 2020. By day, this graduate of STSRI "ASRI" 1976, and FSRD ITB 1994 is one of the Lecturers of the Design Department of the Visual Communication Design Study Program FSR ISI Yogyakarta. Many students have been inspired by the way and language of his drawings, especially in the language of comics. The LTAA team sees this figure born in 1957 and calm in stature is actually a master of observing human character. As a figure who loves wayang, Drs. Asnar Zacky, M.Sn., is able to adapt it into the language of his creation character. What's interesting is the way he works, which still uses stages of process and manual techniques amidst the tendency of today's comic artists to use modern tools. (Source: Nandur Srawung Catalog)

His skill in putting ideas into comic language has been trained for a long time, on humans, flora, objects and buildings. Pencils and drawing tools seem to have merged with his comic imagination. This LTAA was given to him for his dedication to the world of comics, some of his monumental works, including the cover of the book "Gurita Cikeas", by George Junus Aditjondro, and the comic "Jakarta 2039", his joint work with Seno Gumira Ajidarma, in this work we will see his sensitivity in illustrating the heartbreaking May 1998 tragedy.
