ARCHIVE OF THE HEART OF CIVILIZATION

ARCHIVE OF THE HEART OF CIVILIZATION

This title is very important to remember. Because it is because of archives that a civilization, country, community, organization, institution or a person is proven to exist and exist. Either in whatever form the archive is.

As part of the needs of civilization, archives are also studied at the ISI Yogyakarta campus. Through the course "Art Archives and Documentation" of the Art Management Department of the FSR ISI Yogyakarta, students can feel the importance of archives for the civilization of the nation.

A good opportunity happened. Yesterday, March 11, 2020, from 13.00-15.30 WIB, a number of 40 students from the department visited the Library and Archive Service (DPA - DIY). The field study, guided by Dr. Mikke Susanto MA and Trisna Pradita Putra MM, was conducted to see firsthand a number of jobs related to archiving. The guest speaker was Mr. Burhan, a Master Archivist, who belongs to Indonesia.

In addition to knowing the wealth of archive collections, students also get a lot of information about the management and socialization of archives. The management starts from acquisition, maintenance, preservation to public services. On this occasion, students also practiced direct manuscript protection work in the form of how to laminate archives using Japanese tissue specifically for archive preservation.

This opportunity was also to see a number of documents from artists such as the archives of cultural figure Emha Ainun Najib (Cak Nun), puppeteer Ki Sukasman, Didik Nini Towok, Soimah, and others. Through direct lecture practice, students are expected to be more convinced that studying in this department, the infrastructure has been well supported, especially by the state.

By getting to know the archives, hopefully students can feel the importance of archives as part of the guardians of civilization. That is why this department needs to exist and take part. Young people, students are those who will continue to be part of it. Who else if not us. When else if not now.
