DKV ISI Yogyakarta Lecturers Conduct Competency Certification with LSP TIK

Bantul, August 13, 2025 — As part of efforts to improve the quality and professionalism of educators, lecturers from the Visual Communication Design (DKV) Study Program at ISI Yogyakarta participated in a competency certification assessment activity held on August 13, 2025. This activity was organized through collaboration with the Information and Communication Technology Professional Certification Institute (LSP TIK), a formally accredited certification institution.

Competency certification is an important step in ensuring that a lecturer's abilities in their field of expertise can be measured, validated, and formally recognized. Through this process, lecturers not only gain academic legitimacy but also professional recognition that aligns with the needs of the creative industry. This is in line with ISI Yogyakarta's commitment to providing higher education based on Outcome-Based Education (OBE), which emphasizes the achievement of real and standardized competencies.

In this assessment, a total of 21 lecturers from DKV ISI Yogyakarta actively participated. They underwent certification according to their respective fields of expertise, with the distribution covering:

  • Art Director
  • Photography
  • Video Editor
  • Junior Graphic Designer

The assessment process is carried out through stages including document verification, portfolio assessment, interviews, and practical tests. With these stages, certification not only assesses mastery of theory but also practical skills and the application of professional standards in their respective fields.

The implementation of this certification has strategic significance for the development of educational quality at ISI Yogyakarta. Certified lecturers will be able to provide learning that is more relevant to industry standards, so that students can gain a more applicable and competitive learning experience. In addition, validated competency data is also useful as a basis for curriculum development, research, and strengthening cooperation with external parties, especially in the creative industry sector.

The DKV Study Program at ISI Yogyakarta views this activity as part of its long-term vision to strengthen the role of higher education in producing superior, creative, and adaptive graduates. With the support of professional lecturers and formally recognized competencies, graduates are expected to have high competitiveness, both nationally and internationally.

Moving forward, ISI Yogyakarta plans to expand the scope of certification to other fields relevant to the development of visual communication design knowledge, such as digital illustration, animation, interactive design, and creative management. Thus, certification will not only be a form of recognition for the competency of individual lecturers, but also a tangible contribution to improving the quality of art education in Indonesia.

With the implementation of this competency certification assessment, ISI Yogyakarta reaffirms its commitment to continuously adapt to the demands of the times, bridge the academic and industrial worlds, and ensure the professionalism standards of lecturers in guiding students towards a competitive future.
