A total of 15 students and 6 lecturers of Craft Study Program conducted SOP activities to two leading art campuses in Singapore, namely Lasalle College of the Arts and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) Singapore, from October 8-10, 2024. The group led by the Head of the Department of Craft, Dr. Alvi Lufiani, M.F.A and the Secretary of the Department Retno Purwandari, M.A, was received by Hazel Lim (Program Leader, BA (Hons) Fine Arts), Dr. Ian Woo (Program Leader, MA Fine Arts), Adeline Kueh (Senior Lecture, Fine Arts) and Lidya Chrisfens (Senior Lecturer, Fashion Department). During the visit, the Head of the Craft Study Program gave a brief presentation about the Craft Study Program of FSRD ISI Yogyakarta in front of the teaching staff at Lasalle, Singapore. After that, a brief discussion between the two campuses and questions and answers. Followed by a campus tour to the Department of Fine Arts and Fashion Design.
On the NAFA campus, in addition to the campus tour, students had time to see a solo exhibition of fine art by an artist who is an alumnus of FSRD ISI Yogyakarta, namely Anagard with a unique exhibition title, namely: From Nasi Padang to the World. Of course this is very impressive because in addition to being able to talk directly with the artist, students get insight and motivation so that later they can become professional artists or international level art workers.
During this visit, in addition to the two art campuses, students also had the opportunity to visit the National Design Center Singapore and see artworks with themes that are up to date and respond to the times. The issues of sustainable, up-cycle and green art became the hot topics of discussion held at the National Design Center. In addition to LASALLE College of the Arts, NAFA and the National Design Center, SOP 2024 Craft study program students also had the opportunity to visit Gardens by the Bay, Merlion Park and sightseeing Singapore's iconic areas. Students who participated in this SOP felt very grateful to get a very valuable experience, considering that SOP abroad like this was the first time for Craft Study Program students in particular and FSRD ISI Yogyakarta students in general. Hopefully this valuable experience can continue to be carried out continuously because it enriches the horizons of the students and becomes an unforgettable memory.
