The exhibition is held every Monday-Friday, at 10.00-20.00 WIB and Saturday-Sunday 10.00-17.00 WIB at the R.J. Katamsi Gallery ISI Yogyakarta.
For the past 4 years, we have been regularly presenting exhibitions that look at the discourse of art development in Indonesia, especially the artist community movement initiated by art students. The exhibition series invites us to read the history of Indonesian art from community actions and archival documentation to build contextual awareness of the history, aesthetics and discourse that have created the dynamics of art in Indonesia.
The exhibition titled "We Go Where We Now" curated by Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn., is an attempt to show the collectivity of MES 56 in a comprehensive and in-depth manner to the wider community. The strategy chosen is to present MES 56 as an artist collective by displaying all the collective works that have been done and MES 56 as an artist-run-space that will activate the gallery space by holding regular programs such as workshops, film screenings, discussions, and exhibitions.
This exhibition is expected to show that continuous collective work enables progressive development, but on the other hand also requires 'struggle'. Struggling to be a human and an artist, to live and prosper in their ecosystem space.
