'Hikayat Rupa: Art and Knowledge', 2013
Greetings Culture,
This exhibition was the first time the academic community of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta (FSR ISI Yogyakarta) visited and held an art exhibition in Pekan Baru through Taman Budaya Riau. This moment has an important meaning, because it aims to introduce the diversity of art products with various artistic and philosophical contents and present the diversity of educational achievements of FSR ISI Yogyakarta. Thus, it will open new and wider horizons and contribute positively to the creation of artworks in the Riau art environment. FSR ISI Yogyakarta as recorded in history is an art education institution that has experienced a period of development for 63 years, since the initial formation of the Indonesian Academy of Fine Arts (ASRI) knew 1950. One of the results is an exhibition of 60 best student artworks with the curatorial title 'Hikayat Rupa: Art and Knowledge' will provide a visual cross-section of artistic achievements from various art majors including Fine Art, Design Art, and Art Craft.
Art in its various forms is always related to one another, including as a medium of personal expression, cultural expression, and a record of the development of the spirit of the times. This exhibition seeks to share the aesthetic potential arising from the creation of art with artists, art lovers, and generations of Riau students where we see Riau's artistic potential is very rich with a variety of art forms, both performing arts such as theater, dance, music, and singing literature and visual arts. In its development, the arts are closely related to customary, traditional and religious activities that have been inherited from generation to generation. Hopefully, the art exhibition 'Hikayat Rupa: Art and Knowledge' through academic pockets in collaboration with government agencies such as FSR ISI Yogyakarta with the Department of Culture and Tourism (Taman Budaya Riau), and the Department of Education, will pump fresh blood of artistic creativity in Riau and of course for the generation of students to participate actively in art education through the higher education level of art FSR ISI Yogyakarta. For the realization of this exhibition, of course, my deepest gratitude goes to my fellow committee members; both from the faculty and staff. I would also like to thank the Dean of FSR ISI Yogyakarta who has entrusted me to manage this exhibition with the committee team. For the cooperation and coordination that is fluid and familiar, I would like to thank the Head of Taman
Riau Culture and staff. For the Riau art community, please enjoy the aesthetic panorama of the fine arts of the academic community of FSR ISI Yogyakarta, thank you for your presence and appreciation. Hopefully this exhibition will be the opening door for our closer and closer cooperation between FSR ISI Yogyakarta and the arts activists in Riau.
