Yogyakarta, May 16, 2025 - The Visual Communication Design (DKV) Study Program of Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta successfully carried out a series of Workshop and Studio Visit activities with Palka Kreatif as part of the DKV 2025 Festival. The activity initiated by DKV Study Program lecturer, Lily Elserisa, M.Sn. is an important moment to introduce sustainable design practices to students through media papergoods<\/em> and recycled paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Palka Kreatif, a creative industry player that focuses on sustainable craft<\/em>, especially papergoods <\/em>based on recycled paper, became a strategic partner in the two-day workshop, on May 14-15, 2025. This activity was attended by 25 selected participants, consisting of 7 students from the Design Illustration course, 8 from Design Typography, and 8 students who passed through the Open Call from the class of 2022 and above. Not only students, two lecturers, Amar Leina Chindany, M.Ds. and FX Widyatmoko, M.Sn., also took part as active participants in this workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first day of the workshop was held at the DKV ISI Yogyakarta building, where participants were introduced to various types of recycled paper produced by Palka. This session was delivered by two facilitators from Palka Kreatif, Pauline Fula and Juwita Wardah. On the second day, participants were invited to visit two Palka studios in the Minggiran area-a papergoods studio and a recycled paper production studio-to see first-hand the creative process and environmentally friendly production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The enthusiasm of the participants was very high. Not only did they gain new insights into the importance of sustainability in design practice, but they also went home with recycled paper sheets as media for their work. The results of their work will later be exhibited in the Selang Seling Sulang<\/em> which will be held on June 1-5, 2025 at LAV Gallery, Yogyakarta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity is a concrete step for DKV ISI Yogyakarta in integrating sustainability issues into the design learning process. The workshop with Palka Kreatif is clear evidence that concern for the environment can go hand in hand with creativity and innovation in the world of design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
