On July 15, 2024, the Department of Art Management FSR ISI Yogyakarta had a guest curator. She is the Southeast Asia Art curator of the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) Darwin Australia. Her name is Emily Collins.

The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) is the Northern Territory's premier cultural organization since 1981 located on Larrakia Land at Bullocky Point, Darwin.
MAGNT has major facilities for cultural and scientific collections as well as internationally renowned research programs and exhibitions.

In addition to talking about her experience as an ex-Dharmasiswa student of the Republic of Indonesia several years ago, Emily also discussed opportunities for cooperation between institutions. Of course, this invitation is also an honor. Because in the Department of Art Management there are curatorial and art conservation courses, including in the program without the boundaries of art, Emily opened an invitation for further collaboration.

Emily said that the museum where she works in Darwin has quite a large collection of Southeast Asian artists, both traditional and modern/contemporary, so there are many agendas to work on, both historical research and exhibition curation. MAGNT has a number of collections such as Made Wianta's paintings and traditional Nusantara art.

So Emily's arrival is expected to open up land for students for internships, exchange of lecturers and students of ISI Yogyakarta and the possibility of research between countries in the Asia Pacific. Curatorial studies and art conservation which are the focus of MAGNT will certainly contribute to Indonesia in the future.

Author: Mikke Susanto

Peluang kolaborasi di masa mendatang antara Jurusan TKS ISI Yogyakarta X MAGNT Australia terjalin sudah.
